The mounting systems shown on this page have been assembled as pre-configured packages to simplify the selection of all of the necessary components needed to support your KDS equipment. All of the individual components are also available separately.
These pre-configured mounting system packages are only a small sample of the many options we have available. Contact the PQS sales team if you need a custom mounting system designed specifically for your application.
Currently we do not offer pre-configured packages for Counter Top, Under Counter, Ceiling or Pole mounting as more than 90% of all KDS screens are are supported by shelf edge mounts.
However, we do have an excellent selection of individual components for Counter Top, Under Counter, Ceiling or Pole mounting. These individual components are available on our website.
Please visit our website www.practicalqualitysystems.com and/or contact the PQS sales team if you need a custom mounting system designed specifically for your application
Kitchen Display Systems
An easy to understand tutorial
KDS Screen types
Production Screens
Basic
Screens located at each of the various different individual work stations on the production side (cooks side) of the pass through area or window can display the individual food items.
More info
Production or cook’s KDS screens are usually smaller than expediter screens because these users only need to see the items which are
prepared at their particular work station.
The display is fully customizable via the software
setup.
These screens are installed directly adjacent to the different types of kitchen equipment that are used at the individual work stations on the production side (or cooks side) of the pass through area or window.
These screens are commonly called by the names of the cooking operations that are performed at each work station such as Grill or Broil, Fry, Sauté or Pasta, Pizza, Pantry or Salad, Pastry and
Desserts, etc.
Sometimes general terms such as Hot or Cold are used to classify the type of prep work that is done at the individual work stations. Production, prep or cook’s KDS screens are most often supported by specialty mounting systems that are attached to a shelf edge or an adjacent wall surface.
Expediter Screens
Basic
Screens located on the server, or expo side, of the pass through area or window can display all of the current order tickets.
More info
Expo KDS screens are usually larger than production screens because expediters need to see ALL of the current food orders.
Expo staff can also see the prep time data and use it to
identify production problems.
The display is fully customizable via the software setup.
Expo KDS can use one screen but often uses two screens to allow more order tickets to be displayed.
An example of an expo double screen configuration would be to separate orders by status with one screen displaying only orders that are "Cooking" and another screen displaying only orders that are "Ready".
Expo screens are most often supported by specialty mounting systems that are attached to a shelf edge, an adjacent wall surface, or if space allows the screens can also be placed directly on a counter top below the pass through.
