The mounting systems shown on this page have been assembled as pre-configured packages to simplify the selection of all of the necessary components needed to support your KDS equipment. All of the individual components are also available separately.
These pre-configured mounting system packages are only a small sample of the many options we have available. Contact the PQS sales team if you need a custom mounting system designed specifically for your application.
Currently we do not offer pre-configured packages for Counter Top, Under Counter, Ceiling or Pole mounting as more than 90% of all KDS screens are are supported by shelf edge mounts.
However, we do have an excellent selection of individual components for Counter Top, Under Counter, Ceiling or Pole mounting. These individual components are available on our website.
Please visit our website www.practicalqualitysystems.com and/or contact the PQS sales team if you need a custom mounting system designed specifically for your application
Kitchen Display Systems
An easy to understand tutorial
How to locate your KDS screens
-
Refer to the page “KDS Mounting Systems “for more information on a variety of task built mounting systems.
-
Care must be taken when locating KDS Screens so that the display can be easily seen by the users (and in some cases touched); and also so that the screen does NOT block access to the pass through window or such items as ingredients, plates, microwaves, etc. that are located on the adjacent shelves.
-
As a general rule of thumb KDS screens should be located placing the center of the display at, or just above, eye level.
-
Most KDS screens are supported by mounting systems that are attached directly to the edge of existing kitchen shelves above a production work station or expo area.
-
Conduct a careful study of each production/work station and the expo area. Stand where the users will be standing and consider all possible screen locations.
Screen Modeling Tip
As an aid in determining the best screen location we suggest using a section of cardboard that has been shaped to closely match the overall dimensions of the intended screen.
Use this model to assist in demonstrating the best position of the screen.
(In a pinch you can also use a tray or a pizza box as a stand in for a screen.)
Be sure to pan and tilt the screen model to examine the range of motion that the mounting system may need. Move it side to side, up and down and in and out from the mounting surface until the perfect location is discovered. This is where using a mount with an arm that allows adjustment in multiple planes reveals its utility.
When choosing the final screen positions be sure to consider the average height of the kitchen staff. The screens should be located so that they can be touched by persons with an average reach.
Once the best location is found selecting the correct mounting system becomes very important. Be advised that consumer grade VESA mounts are not designed to be used in kitchen environments.
